Well, actually it started today. I meant to write this post yesterday! So, happy new year to you. Is it too late to be wishing that now? Christmas seems like a long time ago now, as always, all of that panic, the last minute wrapping and present making, well it all came together and a good time was had by all.
New year prompts resolutions, doesn't it? To be honest, I cant remember my resolutions from last year- maybe I'll have to go back to my post this time last year and find out. I imagine they were along the lines of eat more healthily, exercise more, be more organised, drink less wine, blah, blah.
What I have noticed this year in magazines and blogs, even on the radio today, is a move towards more positive resolutions. Of course, the bog standard ones above are all positive changes you are making towards your lifestyle, but they are accentuating the aspect of your life you're not happy about. I have found from past experience that I make those kind of changes when the time is right for me. Lets face it, post Christmas, when you have a pile of chocolate, biscuits and wine is a really bad time to kick start a diet with constant temptation under your nose!
The is a definite shift to making your resolitions about doing more things, fun, excitimg things.
So I'll start the diet when I'm good and ready thanks.
And I resolve to learn how to crochet, make more pretty things and drink more tea!

Try Something New
Can't stay away for long! I guess that's the thing when you post every day, it feels kinda weird when you don't, I feel like I'm neglecting it.
and I have a couple of books on it, but never given it a go. I don't know why. It's a pretty cheap thing to do. No equipment needed that I didn't already have, a cutting mat and scalpel.
by which time I'd already been at it for a good couple of hours, and I was a nervous wreck- well, that's a slight exaggeration, but I did shut myself in the workshop so as not to be disturbed by anyone!
I'm trying to get geared up for Christmas, like most of us are, but I'm getting distracted I must admit.
Yesterday I had a go at paper cutting for the first time. I've been looking at these gorgeous designs on Pinterest

I downloaded a template from http://originalpaperpanda.blogspot.com
and printed it off onto some light card.
It takes ages first off, so definitely a craft for someone with patience. And it's nerve racking too. One slip and you could ruin it. I got to this stage

But I did manage it and I'm pretty pleased with the results. Yes, it's maybe not that tidy around the edges if you look close enough and the tip of my finger is still numb from pressing down on the scalpel so that's something I would have make changes to before trying it again.
I'm sold though, I think the end result is well worth the time and effort. I just need to frame it before it gets ripped.

I may cry if that happens..
